Grapeseed Oil

(Vitis vinifera)

Grapeseed oil is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids and contains a variety of compounds and antioxidants which help to slow the effects of aging. Tocopherols, linolenic acid, quercetin, resveratrol, procyanidins, caretenoids and polysterols all contribute to the postive effects of this oil on the skin. Vitamin E protects against free radical damage while the Omega-6 fatty acids keep the skin protected from UV damage and reduces signs of aging, like fine lines and age-related pigmentation (photo aging).

And Why

How to Make the Nectar

Gently rock the bottle to blend and measure out about 30mL in the measuring cup from your bath kit. After you have filled the tub and are ready to begin, take one or two minutes to soak in the water and relax. Let your hair float as well. You are introducing a small amount of soap to the bath water, changing its surface tension. Now take the bowl and fill it half full of water, pour the nectar into the bowl of water and lift it up, as high as you can, and pour it into the bath in front of you. Like you are aerating the water, take the bowl and fill it again in the tub. Lift it into the air and pour it back into the bath water. You are blending the oil and bioactive compounds into something called liposomes. Liposomes are drops of oil that have liquid centers like a candy. They are used in medicine to deliver drugs through the skin. We're using it to deliver skin care only. This action of filling the bowl and pouring it back into the bathtub is the energy necessary to complete this task. You need to fill and pour the bowl ten times until the water in front of you becomes slightly cloudy. That is why we call it the Nectar, and how you visually can see that it has been blended enough. It begins to take on a milky appearance that indicates that the drops are quite small. Doing this greatly increases the penetration rate of the liposomes and it also carries bioactive compounds into the skin that otherwise would not be allowed in. The skins design stops water and things made of water from entering the body. The liposome solves that for us by keeping a drop of liquid material contained inside a drop of oil. Do not overmix, ten times is enough.  Once the water clouds over its now time to bathe in it. Use the bowl and swirl the water to blend evenly, and you're ready to get started. We recommend an upper half/ lower half technique that follows like this. While you are rubbing the oil into the upper half of your body, the lower half is marinating in the nectar. Then you just slide onto your back and your upper half is in the nectar. Your lower half is now ready to have the oil rubbed into it. The idea here is to apply the nectar to your skin everywhere. Your scalp, your hands and feet, everywhere. Continue to rub the oil into your skin. The more work you do at this point the better. The bowl is necessary to make the emulsion, but it is also very useful for bathing. It is wonderful to take a bowlful and just pour it over your head. So please, use it in any way you see fit, and find your own way in this process. Make this ritual your very own. Once you have thoroughly coated yourself for the first time. the nectar needs to stay on for at least 20 minutes. Stay busy during this time. Rub the oil in, this helps quite a bit.  Once you are finished, you simply dry off with a soft, clean towel. Then apply a generous amount of lotion to your skin, and you are done. You may feel the need to reapply lotion within 2 to 4 hours. That's normal. Please do apply more. Do this twice a week for maximum benefit and put at least two days between treatments.

* You will want to avoid strong sunlight for 4 hours as you have taken in a lot of vitamin A and your skin will be photo sensitive. On that note give your scalp 4 hours to absorb fully before washing your hair. *
